NUR 236: Nursing Skills Laboratory

This course provides for the practice of nursing skills in a controlled setting in order to gain proficiency for delivery of patient care in the clinical setting (NUR 221). The content is based on theoretical nursing knowledge taught in NUR 220 and previous courses.

PSYC& 200, with a 2.0 G.P.A or above.

Course Outcomes

UUpon successful completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge or skills:
1. Discuss the care and management of patients/clients receiving epidural anesthesia. (POC.1)
2. Demonstrate advanced wound care skills.  (POC.1)
3. Prioritize nursing skills and knowledge to the care of a simulated patient in a variety of scenarios. (MOC)
4. Demonstrate advanced cardio-respiratory assessment and techniques.  (POC.1)

Additionally, a Dosage Calculation Exam must be passed each quarter with a score of 90% or greater to continue in the program. A student may retake this exam one time only. The Dosage Calculation Exam score is not included in the “Unit Tests” grade.
