This course provides for the practice of nursing skills in a controlled setting in order to gain proficiency for delivery of nursing care in the clinical setting (NUR 131). The content is based on theoretical nursing knowledge taught in NUR 130.
Prerequisites
NUTR&101 with a 2.0 G.P.A or above.
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge or skills:
- Demonstrate effective techniques to care for a patient/client with a stoma. (POC.1)
- Discuss safe techniques for pediatric medication administration and specimen collection. (POC.1)
- Assess a pediatric patient using a developmental screening tool. (POC.1)
- Demonstrate safe and effective airway suctioning techniques. (POC.1)
- Demonstrate insertion and maintenance of enteric intubation for suction and feeding. (POC.1)
- Demonstrate a neurosensory assessment. (POC.1)
