An introductory course focusing on student learning of production welding techniques by applying the Gas Metal Arc, Flux Cored Arc, and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding processes.

WLD 131 or instructor permission.

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge or skills:

  1. Students will become familiar with techniques used in the welding of small parts directly from shop drawings.
    1. Produce accurate weldments from shop drawings
    2. Prepare materials needed to complete competencies
    3. Weld according to drawings
    4. Assess acceptability of parts produced to industry standards
Course Content Outline
Using weld process called out in the drawings:
  • Prepare components as directed in work instructions
  • Weld small scale parts in accordance with drawings
  • Inspect for acceptability

Grades will be calculated as follows:
50% Based on completing all course competencies.
50% Based on Lab Participation, Cleanup on a daily basis, and following ALL Safety rules.
