WLD 111: Welding Process I

An introduction to the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process. Students will perform beads, fillets and Plate tests in all position with E6010 and E7018 Electrodes. Students must complete all 6 credits of WLD 111 prior to enrolling in WLD 121.

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge or skills:

  1. Weld, using the SMAW process with a variety of electrodes in all positions. Students will prepare to take the WABO certification test.

  • At the completion or the course, the student will display the skills to perform the following:
    Beads and pad of beads with E6010 and E7018, in all positions.
    Fillet welds of various sizes in all positions.
    Plate tests in all positions

Grades will be calculated as follows:
50% Based on completing all course competencies.
50% Based on Lab Participation, Cleanup on a daily basis, and following ALL Safety rules.
