AVF 225: Effective Communication in Flight Instruction

This course covers the required areas of instructor knowledge; and is designed to aid the student in passing the appropriate FAA knowledge tests. It includes the learning process and emphasizes elements of effective communication. Methods of teaching and communicating are studied and practiced, as well as how to evaluate and critique through written and oral processes. Includes practice in classroom, one-to-one, and team teaching.

Prerequisites

AVF 221, 223 & 252, or Chief pilot approval.

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge or skills:

  1. Teach effectively using good communication techniques, as demonstrated by in-class teaching assignments
  2. Pass the FAA Fundamentals of Instruction & Flight Instructor Airplane knowledge tests

Department Guidelines

Evaluation is by written test and oral presentation. Grading procedure is based on both written test averages and the quality of the oral presentation. Attendance and evaluating other students are factors in the final grade. These are averaged together to get the overall % score and then related to GPA as follows. Note *70% is lowest passing grade.
