Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge or skills:
- Understand and use a variety of tools available for digital art creation.
- Realize the possibilities available to them as an artist using a digital medium.
- Solve basic image creation and editing problems.
- Develop a strong foundation for success in digital creation for use in other classes and with other software.
- Cloud storage and sharing images/files.
- Navigating the program workspace.
- Creating images using a variety of tools.
- Editing of images using a variety of tools.
- Basic photo manipulation.
Software used in the class are varied according to what students have access to that is free or low cost.
Evaluation of students will be based on projects using the varied software.
Assessment of assignments and quizzes will be based upon the following criteria:
A = Excellent work, clear understanding of concepts and techniques, unique ideas and idea development, excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail, outstanding effort and involvement. Students going above and beyond what is expected of them.
B = Above average work, good idea development and craftsmanship, extra time and effort.
C = Average. Average work, average ideas and/or craftsmanship, minimal time and effort (just getting by).
D = Below average work, poor ideas, little involvement.
F = Lack of understanding, sloppy work, poor craftsmanship, little or no effort, unfinished or missing assignments, work done without care.
PO5 should be assessed: Students will be able to solve problems by gathering, interpreting, combining and/or applying information from multiple sources.
