Dual-Credit Programs

Dual-credit programs provide the opportunity for high school students to earn high school and college credit while in still in high school. There are two types of dual-credit programs: course-based and exam-based.

In course-based dual credit (also called concurrent or dual enrollment), a student enrolls in a class that has the potential to earn both both high school and college credit. Course-based dual credit classes can be offered at the high school (College in the High School and CTE Dual Credit) or at the college (Running Start).

Exam-based dual credit allows a student to take an exam and apply to receive college credit with a corresponding exam score (Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate, AP or BI, respectively).
