CS 123: Security+ Prep & Certification

This course is intended for students taking the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. Students will have materials, support, and practice exams provided to facilitate their preparation.

Prerequisites

CS 207 or instructor permission
Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge or skills:

  1. Apply the knowledge and skills learned from the prerequisite courses
  2. Pass the CompTIA Security+ (or industry equivalent) certification tests

  2. Attempt the CompTIA Security+ (or industry equivalent) certification tests
  3. Pass the CompTIA Security+ (or industry equivalent) certification tests
Department Guidelines
A+ certification requires two exams for certification. Students who attempt the certification exams and earn 60% or more of the points will earn credit in the course. Successfully meeting the CompTIA Security+ scoring requirement (~80%) will result in earning the certification. Scores between 60 and 100% will be graded using the standard BBCC grading policies and grade points.
