This course introduces the skills necessary to screen clients for service eligibility, complete intake processes, conduct comprehensive assessments, and collaborate with clients to develop effective plans for achieving client-identified goals. Students are prepared to serve as effective helpers, carefully exploring their clients’ situation to develop insight before taking action.
Prerequisites
Admission to the BAS Behavioral Health program
1. Articulate the enduring possibility of change within every person
2. Collaborate with clients to determine and articulate presenting problems and create specific, measurable goals
3. Interview clients to assess strengths, areas for improvement, and service needs
4. Create a client-centered, strengths-based, individualized service plan
