This course introduces students to Gas-Turbine aircraft engines. During this class they will learn about the history of the gas-turbine engine, theory, nomenclature, and how it applies to the aviation field. Once the students are familiar with the basics of the gas-turbine engine they will learn about the modern variations and applications of the turbine engine. LAB will include identifying various turbine engine components and explaining the functions of each
Prerequisites
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge or skills:
1. Explain the theory and operation of a gas-turbine engine
2. Identify all internal components of a gas-turbine engine
3. Identify the different variants of turbine engines and their applications
4. Identify the regulations that apply to an engine overhaul
PO4 Applies to this course: Students will be able to identify and explain FAA rules/regulations, as well as describe, identify components of, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of airframe and powerplant systems.
