Provides the Flight Instructor applicant with the knowledge, skill and experience necessary to become an Instrument Instructor; includes flight time and critique.
Prerequisites
Commercial/instrument license, CFI single engine license and 10 hours as CFI with FII written passed and Chief Pilot approval.

COURSE OUTLINE - FLIGHT
- LESSON 1: BASIC INSTRUMENT REVIEW AND AIRCRAFT FAMILIARIZATION
Objective: The student shall review instrument procedures from the right seat and develop the ability to analyze, explain, and execute basic IFR application. - LESSON 2: IFR FLIGHT AND NAVIGATION REVIEW
Objective: The student shall review basic instrument flying, VOR/ADF tracking/intercepts of preselected radials/bearings, and continue to develop the ability to explain and perform maneuvers simultaneously. - LESSON 3: SIMULATOR FAMILIARIZATION AND REVIEW
Objective: The student shall develop familiarity with the operators console and with the capabilities of the trainer. - LESSON 4: HOLDING AND APPROACHES
Objective: The student shall review selected maneuvers & perform each holding pattern entry and various approaches, including use of DME, while developing the ability to teach each procedure. - LESSON 5: CROSS COUNTRY REVIEW AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Objective: The student shall review cross-country procedures, including emergency procedures, and further develop the ability to explain, teach, and correct errors. - LESSON 6: RECOMMENDATION FLIGHT
Objective: The student shall review the appropriate area of operation in the Instrument Instructor Practical Test Standards and show the required level of proficiency.

Objective: The student shall review the material required for the Instrument Airplane rating and the associated Instrument Instructor rating.

Department Guidelines
Evaluation is by in-flight demonstration of instrument instructional skills & an oral demonstration of the ability to teach the related aeronautical material.
